Summer 2012 Uganda Mission Trip
Date: June 14th - 27th, 2012
Where: Rebuilding lives in Northern Uganda one village at a time!!!!
Who: You can help restore stability to the lives of thousands of Ugandans!
Mission: Help us take action to restore stability to the lives of thousands of Ugandans! The work will require lots of manual labor. However, your service and support will strengthen the faith and hope of these poor families and offer a powerful incentive to persevere.
Needs: During the 20-year rebel war waged by the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda, hundreds of thousands of families were displaced from their villages. They've had to relocate to Internally Displaced Person's Camps (refugee camps) in the town of Gulu. Since the 2006 peace process, many have returned to their villages but are struggling to start over. They lack important resources that are necessary to rebuild their lives including basic community infrastructure and viable economic opportunities.
Activities & Services: Children's Heritage Foundation is committed to helping restore stability to the lives of returning residents in a targeted number of villages. We will follow families back to these villages and help them get back on their feet through our "Brick by Brick" rebuilding program. We will work in partnership with local pastors, former child soldiers and recovering abductees to build houses, schools, churches, community centers, latrines, hand-washing stations, trash pits and sports and recreation facilities. We will also train community members in good sanitation and hygiene practices to prevent outbreaks of illnesses and diseases.

Cost: $3,200 (Airfare, Ground Transportation, Lodging, Meals and a Day trip to the Nile).

Summer 2012 Uganda Mission Trip

Where: Make a Real difference This Year by helping us Build a Playground for the children at Victors School & Orphanage.
Who: Help us take action to restore stability to the lives of thousands of Ugandans!
Project: We will enhance the environment at Victors School in Mukono, Uganda and improve the lives of the students by building a modern playground on the campus. Please join us and help give these children the opportunity to experience the thrill and fun adventure of an outdoor playground. You will play a significant role in nurturing the imaginations and maturity of these poor African children.The importance of play runs parallel to the need for an education and is an invaluable part of the youth development process. No construction skills are necessary, just the willingness to serve people who are desperately poor and in need.
The team will also engage in various community service projects including door to door anti-malaria net distribution and Vacation Bible School (VBS).
We believe that God will use the experience of serving others to create change in both the lives of team members, and the people who are served.
Our trips are open to youth (14 years and older) and adults. Trips are family friendly, volunteers are encouraged to bring along a spouse or child (14 years or older).

Summer 2012 Mission Trip- Northern Uganda
Date: August 1st – 11th, 2012
Where: Rebuilding lives in Northern Uganda one village at a time!!!!
Who: "Hoops for Uganda" Impact the lives of Ugandan Youth through Basketball!!!!
Project: Hoops for Uganda will conduct two Basketball Camps in the cities of Mukono and Gulu. The primary goal of the trip is to bring hope to disadvantaged youth in Mukono and Gulu, and impact their future through the platform of basketball.
The camps will be held at Destiny Youth Center in Mukono and a local school in the northern city of Gulu. The camps are designed to help local youth improve their game and build basketball skills through drills, shooting exercises, exhibition games and teamwork. The team will also lead personal development training activities for targeted youth and speak at public and private school assemblies.
We believe that God will use the experience of serving others to create change in both the lives of team members, and the people who are served.
